A collaborative, iterative, and visitor-centered approach to designing for mobile
Sara Bodinson, USA
In 2012, a cross-departmental team at The Museum of Modern Art, New York—including representatives from Education, Digital Media, IT, curatorial, finance and development—began collaborating to develop a new mobile app, called MoMA Audio+, which replaced the museum’s audio tour in 2013. This session will provide a step-by-step overview of the team’s collaborative and iterative approach to research, design, development and launch.
The session will also highlight the importance of conducting qualitative visitor research throughout the process, and provide concrete examples of how user feedback continues to inform the iterative development of content and features for the in-museum and public versions of the app.
